I spent the fall working on United States v. Gupta by Deepali Gupta and directed by Caitlin Sullivan. It's a brilliant and deeply personal work, presented by JACK with support of New Georges, in Collaboration with New Georges program. The musical tragedy attempts to tell the story of Rajat Gupta, who was tried, convicted, and incarcerated for insider trading. More than a decade removed from the events of his trial, his youngest daughter, Deepall Gupta, is presenting her own version— working with materials that are transcribed, remembered, and imagined, Deepali writes a play that maps a history. And yes—she's playing herself. I played the role of "Prosecution," as well as some other silly characters throughout.
